Directions for use: Use low pressure diaphragm exhale to excite the reed of the call. Cup end of plastic baffle with hand and gradually open cupped hand while exhaling to create amplified effect. Extend baffle and turn on 90 degree angle to create a more directional sound. Grunts are generally consecutive in nature; call in groups of three pausing for 3-5 seconds between grunts. A grouping of three grunts allows deer to directionally, “lock” into the direction from which the call oriented. A single grunt stops the deer. A second grunt make the deer start to directionally orient, the third grunt allow the deer to determine best direct course. The deer grunt is a periodically used call which works best during the rut. Use varies, but a generality of use is every 60-90 minutes. May also be used to make deer take pause – one short grunt would suffice in this case. Inverting the call and sucking air through the plastic baffle side of the call gives a mellower tone.
